THE BASICS
Six simple rules
Most damage comes from sun, heat and damp. Avoid these and you are almost done.
No direct sun
Strong sunlight fades colours over time. Choose a wall without sunbeams.
Away from heat
Keep it off walls above heaters, fireplaces, stoves or AC vents.
Keep it dry
Avoid bathrooms and damp walls. Moisture can harm the canvas.
Don't touch the paint
Oils on fingers leave marks. Hold it by the frame or edges only.
No sprays or water
Never use cleaners, wet cloths or polish on the painting surface.
Hang it firmly
Use two hooks for large pieces. Check fixings once a year.
CLEANING
Clean in three easy steps
Once a month is enough — it takes less than two minutes.
Use a soft, dry brush
A clean make-up brush or soft paintbrush works well. Once a month is enough — it takes less than two minutes.
Brush gently, top to bottom
Light strokes only. No pressing or rubbing. Always work downward so dust falls away.
Wipe the frame separately
Use a dry microfibre cloth on the frame only. Never let a cloth touch the painted surface.
